Hannah Jane SWIRE (June 28, 1824 - October 3, 1891)

Hannah Jane SWIRE was the first daughter of Roger SWIRE and Frances Lydia COX. She was born on 28 June 1824 in St. Vincent, West Indies. Her birth is recorded in her mother's bible and her christening is recorded on 01 September 1824 at St. George's Anglican Cathedral in Kingstown, St. Vincent.

She was married to William HAUGHTON, whose full name might have been William Hinton HAUGHTON. They were married on 06 November 1841 in St. George, Portland Parish, Jamaica. Their marriage is recorded in the Portland Parish Register in Volume 3, Folio 31, and states that she was of St. George, Portland at the time of her marriage and that she was born in St. Vincent.

Hannah Jane SWIRE and William HAUGHTON had at least seven children: Frances Eliza HAUGHTON, William Moffat HAUGHTON, Roger Swire HAUGHTON, Edith Anne HAUGHTON, Reginald HAUGHTON, Henry John Frederick HAUGHTON, and Emily Jane HAUGHTON.
There is a William HAUGHTON listed in the 1860 Jamaica Almanac in Metcalfe Parish as a registered voter.

The death of William HAUGHTON on 13 December 1863 is recorded in the bible of Hannah SWIRE's mother, which is believed to have been passed down to Hannah, whose death is also recorded there on 03 October 1891. She is buried in the May Pen Cemetery in Kingston, Jamaica.
